Gabriel has many years of experience in the financial markets. After his studies at the Canadian McGill University programme, he joined Chase Manhattan Bank, New York, as deputy representative for West Africa.
Between 1982 and 1995 he worked at Citibank, where his positions included head of the credit department of Citibank Dakar, vice-president structured trade finance at Citibank, London and regional manager corporate for Africa.
In 1996, as a member of the technical committee he contributed to start-up of the activities for Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (BRVM), the stock exchange of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). In April 1998 he founded CGF Bourse, the first licensed investment brokerage firm in Senegal and in 2001 created an asset management subsidiary called CGF Gestion.
From January 2013 to June 2015, Gabriel was Chairman of the Board of the BRVM. He was also, from June 2013 to March 2017, the Chairman of the Board of Ecobank Senegal. He has served on several other boards during his career and has participated in important forums including the Presidential Investor Council of Senegal.
