Panelist at AIX: Power and Renewables
Faruk Yabo is Assistant Director in the Department of Renewable Energy and Rural Power Access (RRD) of the Federal Ministry of Power. He was appointed Special Adviser to the Honourable Minister of State for Power in Sept 2010 and has worked in that capacity with three former Ministers until mid 2014. He is currently the SE4ALL National Focal Point for Nigeria and the Coordinator, Nigeria Energy Support Programme (NESP) funded by EU and German Government. He presently supervises several renewable energy projects under the federal government multilateral and bilateral cooperation programmes managed by the Ministry of Power. During the past 13 years of being in the Ministry, Faruk has served as member and secretary to several critical committees that drove the Nigerian power sector reforms. He has recently played key role in the development of Nigeria’s national policies, plans and strategies on renewable energy, energy efficiency and rural electrification. He holds B. Sc in Physics, Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto in 1991; PGD in Computer Science and Engineering, ESUTECH, Enugu, 1997; PGD in Electrical Engineering, BUK, Kano in 2002 and M. Sc in Electrical Engineering, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2010. He is a member of the Nigeria society of Engineers and is a COREN certified Engineer.
