Koen_vanBaekelKoen is financial advisor at RebelGroup, a specialised financial and PPP investment and advisory boutique with offices in Rotterdam, Antwerp, Johannesburg, Jakarta, Manila and Washington.
He advises governments, businesses and multilateral institutions on development, financing and implementation of transport infrastructure and services, with a focus on urban transit and rail, worldwide. In Africa he has been involved in advisory work related to infrastructure and PPPs in Burundi, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mauritius, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, The Gambia, and Uganda.
Koen currently works on urban transit projects in Tanzania and Mongolia, on electronic fare collection projects in Ukraine and the wider South Asia region, and on a tailored transport (for disabled, elderly, etc.) service concession in his home town of Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
