Akinwole II has board-based expertise in infrastructural project development, business management, financial economics and strategic leadership in gas and power sectors, where he has demonstrated proven track records spanning several countries.
With over 20 years’ experience in the energy sector, Akinwole II has led various executive teams in structuring, financing and implementing several innovative and commercially sound projects including solar PV plus battery storage, small hydro and energy efficiency projects of small-scale LNG & LPG-fired power projects to displace the more expensive and environmentally unfriendly diesel oil to several customers in Benin, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
Akinwole II is an Expert Advisor at the Oxford University’s SAID Business School. He continues to serve as an Advisory Board Member for various institutions including: The Global Thinkers Forum (UK), African Energy Chamber (South Africa), African Power & Energy Elites (South Africa) and previously on Shell Foundation (UK) where they were tasked with advising on the creation of “the energy company of the future”.
He was listed amongst top 10 Most Influential Figures in the African power sectors for three consecutive years (2014, 2015, and 2016); he was also nominated for the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award in Africa’s Power Sector at the African Utility Industry Awards, South Africa.
Akinwole II holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Jos- Nigeria, a post graduate diploma in Strategy and Innovation from the Oxford University Saïd Business School, a certificate in Electricity Pricing and Modelling from the London Business School in the UK, and a certificate in International Oil Trading and Shipping from the Oxford-Princeton College in the UK.
