Abba is at the forefront of Nigeria’s electrification drive. With a strong background in energy policy and over two decades of experience, he oversees the implementation of ambitious projects to expand electricity access to rural and underserved regions which includes the Rural Electrification Fund (REF), Capital Projects, and the $550 million Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) – a World Bank ($350m) and African Development Bank ($200m) initiative deploying mini-grids and solar power solutions.

His leadership is instrumental in securing substantial funding for the NEP successive Project called DARES, deploying solar power solutions, and promoting renewable energy through innovative models like the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO). Abba is currently spearheading the development of a comprehensive National Electrification Strategya and Implementation Plan (NESIP), harmonizing national energy access data, improving partnerships, and mobilising financial resources to accelerate Nigeria’s journey towards universal electricity access.
