Jay Bhattacherjee is a Reservoir Engineer with 18 years’ experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. In the earlier part of his career he worked for Pengrowth, Apache, and the Bank of Nova Scotia. Subsequently he was VP Operations at Longreach Oil and Gas and participated in its growth from start-up funded by private capital through to listing on the TSX Venture Exchange and a doubling of its market capitalisation.

Prior to becoming CEO at Aminex in late 2013 he was a co- founder of privately-owned Canyon Oil & Gas, which was later acquired by Aminex. Since joining Aminex he has made substantial progress with the group’s Tanzanian portfolio, bringing the Kiliwani North gas field on-stream and drilling a significant gas appraisal well in the onshore Ruvuma Basin. He has introduced a cornerstone strategic investor, eliminated corporate debt, strengthened the technical team and completed successful equity issues.

Jay holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering with Petroleum Engineering from the University of Calgary.
