Celestine is a social safeguards specialist at the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (Ketraco) where she coordinates social safeguard studies for transmission lines, and ensures that projects are implemented in accordance with international best practices. She contributed to the development of Ketraco’s resettlement policy framework and is currently in charge of a range of social and environmental safeguard studies. She has a wealth of knowledge in World Bank safeguard policies including the recently launched Environmental and Social Standards (ESS).
Celestine has worked with communities for the last 19 years gaining knowledge in community engagement thus ensuring that Ketraco’s projects are implemented successfully.
Celestine worked with the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company where she coordinated the implementation of water and sanitation projects in the informal settlements of Nairobi; the formation of the first ever stakeholder engagement board; and the formation of the Water Action Group in a bid to avoid duplication of projects.
She holds a Bachelors degree from Kenyatta University in English and Literature and a Masters degree in Rural Sociology and Community Development from the University of Nairobi.
