Prior to that, Jamila was a Senior Infrastructure Planning Engineer at Eskom for just under 12 years. She led network solutions and financial approvals for the implementation of projects in the Northern Cape and Mpumalanga province, including IPP integration in Eskom. She was also the lead engineer in system studies for the integration of a 995 MW gas powered power plant located in Namibia. Before joining Eskom, she worked as Assistant Corporate Planning Engineer at Botswana Power Corporation (BPC), analyzing the national power system and serving as load forecaster and Energy trader for BPC.
Jamila holds a Master of Science in Engineering and Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and University of Cape Town, respectively.
She’s a registered Professional Engineer with ECSA, Member of Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), member of South African Institute of Electrical Engineer (SAIEE), and was co-founding and board member of the South African Energy Storage Association (SAESA) while in South Africa.
