Benjamim has a degree in Business Administration from Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM). He joined the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME) in 1983.

While at MIREM, he held various positions, including Head of the Labor Organization and Wages Section (OTS); Head of the Department of Administration and Finance, National Director of Planning and Development and Advisor to the Minister.

From 1998 to 2007, he worked for ENH as their Accounting and Finance Administrator and served as Administrator for CMG and CMH. He was a member of the negotiating team for the acquisition of natural gas production contracts including; sharing of natural gas production; pipeline construction; commercial contracts; and operating contracts for the Pande / Temane natural gas project and the gas pipeline to Secunda.

Benjamim was Deputy Chief of the Government Negotiating Team in the Rovuma Basin Project (LNG) Areas 1 and 4, represented by the Operators and Concessionaires Anadarko and Eni respectively. He also led the negotiation teams of financing agreements for CMH and CMG to participate in the Pande/Temane natural gas project and the Republic of Mozambique Pipeline Company (ROMPCO) as well as coordinated the first operation to sell 10% of CMH´s shareholding exclusively to singulars and mostly Mozambican companies.

From 2000 to 2007 he was elected as the Chairman of the Fiscal Council at Matola Gas Company (MGC) and later he was the Coordinator of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI), having led Mozambique to qualify for the Initiative in 2012.

He is currently ENH Commercial VP and Chairman of the CMH’s Fiscal Council, among other responsibilities.

Benjamin was a panellist at the Africa Investment Exchange: Gas meeting in 2017.
