James is General Manager, Gas Business for Seplat Energy Plc, responsible for managing the company’s extensive gas business as well as supporting its ambition to invest in the renewables and power value chain.

James joined Seplat with over 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. His expertise spans various energy value chains and portfolio investment management.

He has been Business Development & Commercial Manager for Shell Nigeria Gas Limited, where he managed the company’s downstream natural gas distribution business; Commercial Lead, Domestic Gas Development for Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), where he was responsible for commercial aspects of upstream gas project development; and West Africa Business Development Manager for Shell New Energies (now called Emerging Market Power), where he was part of the team that drove Shell’s investment in renewables and power businesses in West Africa.

He is currently the Chairman of the Oil Producers Trade Sector (OPTS) Gas Sub-committee as well as a Non-Executive Director of the Gas Aggregator Company of Nigeria (GACN). He holds an MBA degree from Alliance-Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK, and an MSc degree in Offshore and Ocean Technology from Cranfield University, UK. He also holds the Project Management Professional (PMP®) Credential.
