Matthew is a global leading expert in energy storage, a Principal Consultant, and currently Head of Department for Energy Storage across Europe, the Middle East and Africa at DNV GL. Matthew is a chartered engineer and has a PhD in energy storage, he has published in internationally recognised energy journals, and often presents at academic and industrial conferences both locally and outside of the UK.

Matthew has lead, and worked on 100+ storage projects globally with key industry stakeholders such as system operators, regulators, governments, utilities, investors, developers, suppliers and network operators. As well as leading the energy storage department for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at DNV GL, he is also the lead technical expert for Eskom in South Africa on the World Bank funded roll out of 1.4 GWh of battery energy storage systems.
