Najim specialises on energy and extractive industry policy and regulation, with emphasis on renewable energy policy and projects. He has over 18 years experience in the development sector working with international agencies such the United Nations, projects funded by the former United Kingdom Department for International Development, and various engagements for the German Development Agency GIZ, and on World Bank projects in energy sector policy making and project implementation. He was hitherto a Special Assistant to Dr. Rilwanu Lukman, Special Advisor to the President on Energy and Strategic Matters and was instrumental in the early development of solar policy in Nigeria as part of Nigeria’s energy diplomacy. As Principal Partner of Prism Partners he has advised on or participated in renewable energy project financing and development in Nigeria, the Gambia, Morocco, and Ivory Coast. More recently he advised the Central Bank of Nigeria on the criteria for accessing an intervention fund for Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative.
