Pervelan is a professional engineer, registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa.  He obtained his BSC in Electrical Engineering from the University of Natal in Kwazulu Natal.

With over 23 years of experience within the electricity and energy sector, he has extensive knowledge and involvement in the utility environment in both at technical and leadership roles in generation, transmission and distribution. He is currently responsible for leading all strategic technical aspects pertaining to the enablement and implementation of independent generation procurement falling under the Section 34 of the Electricity Regulation Act of South Africa.
