Samson is an energy specialist with USAID Power Africa with over 10 years experience in energy systems design, planning and implementation. He works within the energy office to advance Power Africa’s goals and objectives of new generation capacity and access to electricity. He provides technical direction and thought leadership to several of Power Africa’s programs and knowledge products. He is a co-author of the Understanding Power Transmission Financing handbook. He co-leads the utility reform and on-grid connection, and transmission learning groups within Power Africa. Samson also has expertise in the conversion of waste into electricity and/or renewable natural gas, energy efficiency, process optimization, utility loss reduction strategies and data analytics.

He previously worked as an energy engineer at the Process, Energy and Environmental Technology Station, University of Johannesburg where his work focused on reducing energy costs of small businesses, and municipalities. He holds a bachelor and doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering and a masters in Chemical Engineering.
