Suleiman is a visionary leader driving Nigeria’s energy transition towards a cleaner, more affordable, and resilient future. As the program director at RMI, he spearheads strategic initiatives to shift away from traditional, polluting energy infrastructure towards sustainable alternatives. With a focus on holistic energy planning, clean energy portfolios, distributed energy resources (DERs), and demand-side interventions, Suleiman is at the forefront of enabling local economic development through productive energy use and leading the implementation of the largest portfolio of interconnected mini grids, embedded generation and commercial and industrial (C&I) business models in Nigeria.
With over 14 years of experience in developing strategies for clean energy infrastructure and investment, Suleiman has a proven track record of success. In his previous role, he led the Solar Power Naija Program at the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) in Nigeria, the largest off-grid project in sub-Saharan Africa, the Energizing Economies Initiative and one of the pioneers in the design and implementation of the $550m Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) funded by the world bank and AfDB.
