Tarek trained as an engineer and started his career designing low carbon buildings and sustainable city masterplanning across EMEA and North America. He transitioned into finance in 2017, joining British International Investment (formerly CDC Group) where he currently works as an Investment Executive focused on lending (incl. structuring and origination) to energy access and resource efficiency (incl. energy and water efficiency) businesses in Africa and Asia (corporate debt and asset-backed financing). He has spent the bulk of the last years focusing on the C&I solar sector in Africa, particularly East and West Africa. He was previously selected as one of the top 25 under 25 globally in the world of sustainability and has served two terms on the Board of Impact Lebanon, facilitating the reconstruction of Beirut following the 4th of August blast.
