Having spent most of his professional and personal career focusing on emerging markets and Africa, Timo recently joined the energy complex of the AfDB to foster collaboration and co-financing with strategic private and public-sector partners.

Before joining AfDB, he served as senior advisor to the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), focusing on blended finance approaches and the mobilisation of local institutional investors towards alternative assets in Africa and Brazil.  Between 2011-16, Timo was director of business development at Allianz Global Investors where he oversaw the client coverage and advisory for African institutional investors. Prior to this he was head of financial institutions and sovereigns for Africa and the Middle East at Raiffeisen Bank International in Vienna and also served as chief representative sub-Sahara Africa for UniCredit Group in Johannesburg, managing investment portfolios in the region of up to $3bn, equivalent.
