Ward works on debt financing of renewable energy initiatives, with a focus on Eastern and Southern Africa for project finance transactions and a pan-African focus for distributed energy transactions. Over the past years he has originated, structured and executed financing agreements for over 15 transactions across the region.

His experience covers a wide range of energy sub-sectors, including mini-grid, solar home system, C&I, clean cooking / carbon as well as project finance transactions. Prior to joining FMO Ward worked at a strategic consultancy. He holds a BA in Liberal Arts & Sciences from University College Utecht, and an MSc in Financial Economics from the University of Oxford.
