William is a renewable energy investment specialist with 18 years’ experience from a wide variety of markets, projects and transactions. He began his career as an advisor to investors in African carbon offset projects under the UNFCCC Clean Development Mechanism before working as a developer himself for an Asian aggregator of CDM projects. Since 2013 his focus shifted towards structuring and raising capital for clean energy projects and ventures, first in Australia and Asia-Pacific then in Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Today he leads the Renewable Energy Deal Advisory Unit in Multiconsult Norge, Norway’s largest renewable energy engineering and advisory firm. Previously known as Norplan International, Multiconsult has been involved in the development of the African power sector since 1962. Of particular relevance for his participation at AIX Power & Renewables is his role as Project Manager and Financial Specialist for the upcoming mini-grid investment programme in Uganda : “GET Access”. With Euro 35 million of financial support from KfW, EU and the Government of Uganda, GET Access aims to stimulate private co-investment in roughly 130 mini-grids on the islands, lake shores and in the far north of the country.
William is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (C.A.I.A, 2012) and holds an M.Phil. in International Development Studies from IDS, University of Sussex. He speaks fluent English, French and Norwegian.
