25 July 2023, Online, 12.00-13.00 BST (GMT +1)
This online roundtable looks at gas and LNG options for commercial and industrial (C&I) and large off-grid offtakers, midstream challenges, and the potential future impact of large-scale LNG developments in African markets such as Senegal, Mozambique, Tanzania and Nigeria.
Gas-to-power (GTP) is an increasingly preferred option for many large C&I offtakers – including those for whom grid supply is unreliable or insufficient.
Developers are also starting to look at hybridising extant thermal plants, using GTP capacity to underpin the addition of renewable C&I plants.
LNG-to-power developments are also an increasingly viable option, with remote or off-grid locations supplied via ‘virtual’ LNG pipelines using road or even rail. Offtakers include miners energy-intensive industries, such as smelters and cement manufacturers.
The roundtable will be chaired by African Energy deputy editor Marc Howard, with contributions from invited guests and participants.
The meeting is free for all AIX members and African Energy newsletter and Live Data subscribers.
