At Dutch development bank FMO, Bernhard and his team focus on providing financing for energy projects, with an emphasis on the Least Developed Countries and on renewable energy. The team is considered to be one of the main players in arranging and providing financing for energy and infrastructure projects in Sub-Saharan Africa and has received various awards for the projects they have helped finance.

Bernhard joined FMO in 2002 after working 16 years with ABN Amro Bank and ING Bank, mainly in project finance and global relationship management.

Bernhard holds a MSc in Civil Engineering from Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands.
