Steven is currently leading on the UK’s £1bn Ayrton Fund for clean energy innovation in emerging economies, and within that Transforming Energy Access (TEA), a major UK-supported partnership platform for action on energy access and transition.
Previously Steven worked in policy at DFID, including leading the UK’s position on the Energy SDG7 process, the development of Results-Based Financing for Low Carbon Energy Access (RBF), and on Green Mini-Grids Africa. He acted as a senior advisor in the development of the Energy Africa campaign on household solar market acceleration in Africa, and is co-chair of the Mini-Grids Funders Group. He has been working on clean energy access and transition for more than 15 years, after starting his career in product development consultancy. He has degrees in mechanical engineering and product design from Glasgow, Groningen and Cambridge.
