Conal leads Alliant Insurance Services’ Emerging Markets practice, having more than 20 years experience underwriting and brokering political risk, trade credit, and parametric insurance solutions.

Formerly OPIC’s (now, DFC) senior insurance officer for Africa and the Middle East, Conal has extensive experience placing political risk insurance with public agencies (ATIDI, DFC, MIGA) as well as with private market insurers.  He began his career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mali before going on to work at the US African Development Foundation and subsequently as a senior business development associate for an international engineering company.  He has travelled to more than 35 countries in Africa and worked on a wide variety of power, oil and gas, and green bond transactions across the continent.
